The “intelligence assessment” issued to local law enforcement by the Department of Homeland Security last week, claiming Iraq and Afghanistan veterans may be ripe for recruitment by violent extremist recruiters, was a disturbing glimpse into the psyche of some in the Obama administration and part of a trend to victimize our veterans.

My two cents — changing this policy is a good idea, if only because it gives the public (through the lens of an eager media) to see the seriousness with which the military honors it’s fallen heroes.

Senate Amendment #904 would allow for the U.S. Army to increase the active duty force by 30,000 soldiers, a good first step toward alleviating some of the strain placed on the force and giving Army leaders the strategic maneuvering space needed to address personnel needs and aggressively plan for future requirements.
